This page explains how personal information is used when you visit the Electrical Careers website or get in touch through it.

Who we are

This careers website is brought to you by The Electrotechnical Skills Partnership (TESP), which is responsible for the personal information collected through it. You can contact us through our contact page.

Our forms

We collect only what each form asks for:

• Contact form: your name, company, email address and message, so we can reply. If you tick the box, we also send you updates and information about electrical careers.
• Career form: your name, company, email address and telephone number, so we can respond to your request.
• News sign-up: your name, company, email address and which option best describes you, so we can send you news and updates that are relevant to you.

Each message is emailed to the team that deals with it, and a copy is kept in the website’s database so it isn’t lost. We keep messages and sign-up details only for as long as we need them for that purpose. You can ask us to stop sending updates at any time. Our legal basis is legitimate interests (replying to people who contact us) or, for updates, your consent.

To stop spam and abuse, our forms use Google reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare Turnstile. They check that a real person is sending the form, which means Google and Cloudflare receive your IP address and details about your browser and device. They load only on pages with a form and are needed for security, so they aren’t switched off by your cookie choices. Our legal basis is legitimate interests: protecting our forms from spam and abuse.

Server logs and security

Like most websites, our web server logs each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page asked for, your browser details and the page you came from. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working, and delete them after 14 days. Our legal basis is legitimate interests: keeping the site secure.

Cloudflare provides security and delivery for this site, so your requests pass through its network. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to block attacks and deliver pages quickly, and it may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it needs to check that traffic is genuine. Cloudflare may process this information outside the UK, with safeguards in place for international transfers.

Google Analytics (only with your consent)

If you choose “Accept all”, or switch on Analytics under “Manage choices”, we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are visited and how the site is used, so we can improve it. Google receives your IP address and details of your visit, and may process them outside the UK, including in the United States, with safeguards in place. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and we don’t use Google Analytics for advertising. Nothing from Google Analytics loads until you accept. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time; when you do, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted from your browser. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal.

YouTube videos (only if you choose)

Some pages include YouTube videos. They don’t load until you select “Load video” or allow “Maps & video embeds” in Cookie settings. YouTube (Google) then receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy. Our legal basis is your consent.

Cookies

Deleting cookies in your browser also clears your cookie choices, so you will be asked again on your next visit.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your information. We share it only with the services that run this site: our web host and email service, Cloudflare and, if you allow it, Google.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to ask us to limit or stop using it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, including with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. To make a request, use our contact page.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
